This is the README for pgp.2.6ui.NI.sd.tar.gz [Download] [Browse] [Up]

This is version 2.6 of pgp (but _NOT_ the MIT-version). This is
the version for use outside the USA. I have included part of a
posting by Mike Johnson on alt.security.pgp, so that you can see
if this really is the version you want. In this directory you will
also find the version 2.6mit (for use in the USA).

I have applied the following patches to the original distribution:
-In pgp26ui/src I have removed all carriage returns from the *.c and *.h files
in order to compile this beast on a NeXT (I've only changed these
sources -- but there are still carriage returns all over the place; but
it also works with the old set of configuration files, e.g. from pgp2.3a).
-I've copied the makefile.unx to Makefile and optimized the linker
call for the NeXT-supplied compiler (by adding "-object -s" to the
LDFLAGS).
So don't let the file dates bother you. You can check the files
with md5sum (as supplied in contrib/md5sum) against the file
pgp26ui.md5 -- don't forget to strip of pgp26ui.md5 of the carriage
returns as well (e.g. by running "tr -d "\015" <pgp26ui.md5
>newfile"). I didn't want to mess with this file since nobody would
have believed me afterwards, would you? I only wonder how the
checksum could ever have been correct with all those carriage returns...?
