The programs in this directory are only useful on SGI machines. The
record and play audio data in the U-LAW format used by Sun SPARC
workstations and adopted by ../broadcast.

The programs are:

recordulaw	Record U-LAW data sampled from the audio input port.
The data is written to stdout. This is needed to
provide U-LAW input to ../broadcast. You can also use
it to create voice mail (with a suitable shell script).

playulaw	Play U-LAW data read from stdin on the audio output
port. This is not used by ../radio, but useful if you
		receive voice mail.

For more information, see ../README.
