This is the README for pine.3.96.p1.NIHS.b.tar.gz [Download] [Browse] [Up]
30 July 1997 This is not a bug-fix of anything in pine.3.96. There a simply two changes made: - it defaults to _not_ producing those annoying pine-debug files. - it is compiled with 'allow_changing_from' so one can use a spam-retardant From line These are compile-time options which I changed and thought might be useful. Please note: a correct anti-spam From line should NOT list a valid domain name and an invalid user. For example, a BAD anti-spam address would be: luomat.nospam@peak.org because that domain exists. If someone sends email to that address it goes from their machine to peak.org and then bounces back with 'unknown user'. If it was: luomat@peak.org.donot.spam.me that is better because it will immediately bounce because that domain is invalid. TjL
