Installing gdbmAdaptor

It is easy to install gdbmAdaptor. Simply copy the gdbmAdaptor.adaptor directory (under Adaptors) to Library/Adaptors in your home directory. In most cases this default location will suffice. However if you want other users on your system to be able to use gdbmAdaptor then it is recommended that it be placed in /LocalLibrary/Adaptors.

It is strongly recommended that gdbmAdaptor be installed in either ~/Library/Adaptors˛ or /LocalLibrary/Adaptors. These are the default locations for DBKit adaptors, which makes it easy for DBModeler, InterfaceBuilder and other applications using DBKit adaptors (such as your own applications) to find them.

NeXT puts the DBKit adaptors that are bundled with NEXTSTEP in /NextLibrary/Adaptors. You should not install your own tools in the /NextLibrary hierarchy; thats what /LocalLibrary and ~/Library˛ are for.

If you don't have access to install gdbmAdaptor in /LocalLibrary contact your systems administrator and ask for help.

˛ The '~' stands for your home directory; i.e. the directory displayed in Workspace when you log in.
