This is the readme file for NewFile2 version 2, the first public release of the NewFile application. NewFile was compiled under 2.1; it should run under 2.0 and maybe 3.0, but I haven't tested that. NewFile has been submitted as two separate files, one for the executable and one for the source code, to make life easier for those who only need/want one or the other. NewFile allows you to create new files and directory structures in the current directory of an application. It's intended for those times when you have a directory selected in a Workspace browser and have to create a file in the directory. Rather than change to another application and relocate the directory, you can use a menu item to create the file and have it opened in the appropriate application. NewFile is also useful if you use any type of template file: rather than start with a blank file and copy the template, you can create a file with the template already present. A simple example of this is creating a Rich Text File or WriteNow file with given font and ruler settings. Similarly, you can create directory trees with a given structure and contents.
