PharrSavers by Matt Pharr 20 August 1992 (pharr@cs.yale.edu NeXTMail makes me happy) PharrSavers is a collection of screen savers that I've written for Sam Streeper's screen-saver BackSpace. They basically fill in some of the areas that needed to be filled in with BackSpace bouncing clocks, and all the other basics of the screen-saver world. All four of them take advantage of the whole interface BackSpace offers to the programmer, so maybe they'll be useful to others who have neat ideas for 'savers. DigitalClockView bounces your basic digital clock around the screen. You can adjust not only the clock's size and speed, but also whether it uses standard AM/PM or military time. PatchworkView was the first BackSpace screen-saver that I wrote. It grew out of a little Postscript hack I was playing with. SnakesView shares the straightforwardness of PatchworkView. It's sort of hard to describe, but it's similar to one of the neater AfterDark modules. SpheresView is my favorite of the bunch. It draws and shades a bunch of shaded spheres, with a nice 3-D effect and reasonably quick drawing due to the way the spheres are drawn. ** Note that none of these modules are compatible with the first release of BackSpace, due to support for BackSpace's new capabilities. You must use the version of BackSpace that came with NeXTStep 3.0 with these screen-savers. ** -Matt
