This is the README for Fortune.NIHS.bs.tar.gz [Download] [Browse] [Up]
New for 1.3 Joe Riess added support for multiple databases (which is better than hardcoding them ;-). He's also added the Babylon-5 fortunes. If you want to add a database to the list, put the file into the db subdirectory and edit the FortuneView.dblist. The first column in FortuneView.dblist is the filename of the fortune database you've added, and the second column is the name you want to show up on the pop-up list. If the database filename is preceded with a question mark, it will activate the alert panel used to warn the user about offensive filenames. Thanks to Joe for doing the stuff I was too lazy to do! New for 1.2: - added a browser to delete unwanted fonts from the random picked. - allowed use of 2 bit grayscale in the random color picker, so monochrome screens look OK. - changed update timing so as to use a "time per word" instead of a "time per fortune" way of doing this. This means that people can set up using their comfortable reading speed. New for 1.1: - worked around some AppKit bugs 1.0: This screen saver makes use of several fortune databases that exist out there on the net ('fortune', 'zippy', 'star trek', and 'offensive'). Every 5 to 40 seconds, the display will pick a random fortune, and a random font to display on the screen. - darcy (samurai@hasc.ca)
