This is the README for SpotLight.1.03.N.bs.tar.gz [Download] [Browse] [Up]

This program is a screen blanker, which uses the spotlight movie from Scene written by Keith Ohlfs, modified by me so it would run for longer than 1 minute.

The Eye's in the application Icon were taken From Eyecon Written by Roger Rosner at LightHouse Design.

The MailService routines were taken from:
Controller object for MailHelper application. Copyright 1991, Izumi Ohzawa and Manuel Alberto Ricart, All rights reserved.

The passwd that is used when locking the screen is the same passwd that you use to log into your account.

All aspects of the program are controllable by the user though the Preferences Panel.

     · the update time of the Eyes drawn in the application icon, can be adjusted anywhere from 0.01 seconds to 1 second.
     · The Eyes can be completely shut off. Changing this in the preferences only has effect the next time he program is run.
     · User setable preferences are given for the ScreenBlanker and the MailServices routines.

To unlock the screen once it has been locked simply press the mouse button (just as in Scene).

Spotlight also provides a few Mail related services (I know this seems weird but since I always run this program it is a good place to put them). The Mail services are those found in MailHelper.

In the preferences panel in SpotLight you will notice a pie chart object, this was written by me and is called CircularSlider. A loadable IB palette for this object can be found at nova.cc.purdue.edu and at cs.orst.edu.
