Arch: NeXTStep 3.3 motorola Type: non-fat Date: Sun Aug 18 03:35:08 CDT 1996 Howdy, I wrote this tool so that I could get some better diagnostic information from the NeXT Laser printer (considering it doesn't have a display). Also, sometimes the voice just isn't enough. So, this tool lets you view the current status of the NeXT Laser printer (i.e. The printer is out of paper, The printer is cold... warming up, etc). Actually, I really wrote it with the intention of writing a GUI display for it. However, that was shot down when I found out that any open() call on the /dev/np0 device automatically starts up the printer. I wanted to be able to get information about on/off status, but there is no way to do this without starting up the printer (at least, not that I've found). Anyway, it's just a quick little thing and probably not as complete as it could be, but it does the trick. This tool is compiled for ONLY the m68k as it would be fairly useless on any other architecture. If you find it useful or simply just like it, please send me a note.
