This is the README for Moni.0.01a.N.b.tar.gz [Download] [Browse] [Up]

This is the first and still highly embarrasing (to me) version of Moni - a binary editor for NeXT. I wrote it because I couldn't remember the keystrokes that beav uses.
Moni can be used to examine and modify binary data (programs etc.) since this is something I thought was missing from gdb. To open a file choose "open" (as if you didn't know ;-), to search type something into the field labelled "Search", then press the "Search" button. To modify the file click in the hexadecimal dump and type new values. These will replace the old values. You cannot delete or insert data using Moni. To save your changes, choose "Save" from the menu or the button panel.
This is my first try using IB/NeXT, so I added some stuff just for fun, like the rotate and move feature. They move the text object inside the window, and you can still edit the data. This is just for showing off :-). Since I'm not connected to the net, I have supplied an e-mail address of a friend, Volker. The address is vhs@darkcube.radig.de. He will redirect your comments. Don't blame him for the program, it was me.
I may release the source once it looks readable and the program is less embarrasing.

Disclaimer: I must have broken nearly all of NeXT's UI design rules - and I know.
