This is the README for Ping.2.1.NIHS.bs.tar.gz [Download] [Browse] [Up]

This is the 3rd release of the Ping.app. There are two significant
updates in this version.

The first is from Holger Hoffstaette <hhoff@schwaben.de> who was nice enough to fix the ``Choose Host'' panel actually works (it will look up the machines in your NetInfo database).

The second is that the app now accepts "paste". Why is this important? Because now you can copy a hostname and paste it into the panel. For some long hostnames, this is a very handy feature. Who added this functionality? Me! No big deal, opened the NIB file in InterfaceBuilder, dragged the Edit menu over to the app's menu panel, removed those entries which didn't make any sense to include, hit 'save', went to ProjectBuilder and hit 'build' and it was done.

The power of NeXTStep..... Gotta love it.

REVISION HISTORY

	2.0	- Quadfat version of release 1.0

1.0	- the NeXT-only release from Christopher Kane

HERE IS THE ORIGINAL README

Here's a little program I threw together. I got the idea from a
shell script posted on comp.sys.next by Steve Hayman of Indiana U.

The application is fairly self explanatory. Refer to the
application's help for details.

To compile the app, use "make".

This code is set into the public domain, do with it as you will.
I, however, take no responsibility for this code, nor do I
guarantee that it will work.

If nothing else, the icons are nice.
