Locus Version 2.0 Beta
Release Notes
JGS Sat Apr 24 12:34:41 PDT 1993

What's New

Must of the changes in Locus from Beta 1.0 deal with bug fixes, mostly minor things but also a few very annoying things such as the inability to bring up the Inspector panel. One major new feature has been added: the support for Dynamic Items. See the manual (also new for this release) for more details on this.
Also you will note that Locus now has real icons -- albeit very cheesy ones. If any one has further ideas for icons, I would love to see/hear about them. Thanks to all who reported bugs and gave comments and suggestions on Beta 1.0. Keep them coming.

Known Bugs and Other Shortcomings

I haven't been keeping a real detailed account of the bugs that I have found and those that have been reported. I will begin to do so starting with the release. At this point, I can't really think of anything off the top of my head, and I don't want to bother looking at what notes I do have, so there is nothing to report. Certainly, it is given that Locus doesn't have any shortcomings... :-) Oops, just thought of one obvious feature that is lacking: dragging on to the App Icon. I'll get to it sooner or later...

In the Works

I have few additional features planned for the immediate future, due to limited time in which to implement them. Release 1.0 is expected to be ready in time for NeXTWorld Expo and May 25, so the features that are in there now are pretty much what will be in there then. Some minor features I do plan include: adding Items through Services, NeXT Help, and good Icons. Also, I would like to get Locus compiled into a fat binary so that it will run and NS/FIP in time for Expo. If anybody would like to help out with this, I would be very appreciative. It it helps, I will be in Sacramento on May 21, until the 23 or 24 when I will be in San Francisco.
