XAmode (c)1993 KNOPS EDV-Anlagen Gerd Knops, Germany
Enables a TOSHIBA CD-ROM to read PHOTO-CD's.
Usage:
XAmode -t<#>
where <#> is the target-ID (0..7) of the
CD-ROM-drive
This program must be run with superuser status.
To accomplish that, run it as superuser.
Another way: log in as root, open a shell, and
change to the same directory XAmode is in.
Then enter the following two lines in the shell:
chown root.wheel XAmode
chmod 6777 XAmode
Then you can run XAmode, even if you are not
superuser.
You could either run XAmode prior to using a PHOTO-CD, or
you can have XAmode automatically executed whenever
your machine is powered up. To do that, follow
these instructions:
1. Login as root
2. If not existent, create a directory /usr/local/bin
3. Copy XAmode to /usr/local/bin
4. Add the following line to the end of /etc/rc.local:
/usr/local/bin/XAmode -t<#>
where <#> is the target-ID (0..7) of the
CD-ROM-drive
NOTE: Under rare circumstances it is possible that
mach will reset the SCSI-Bus (like after a read-error on
a hard disk or other device). In that case, XAmode needs
to be started again to be able to use a PHOTO-CD.
