Introduction

Background

The ParseResume software was developed to assist Human Resource and Personnel Agencies in the analysis of text resumes. This software is designed to be used in co-ordination with Agency2.31.

Rationale

ParseResume will take the text of a resume and parse it. It will discard ordinary English words like 'the', 'and', 'but' etc. It further discard words that are superfluous in this context eg. 'resume', 'January' etc. What is left will be checked against a growing database of skill phrases and as each skill phrase is detected it can be optionally added to a Candidate kept within the Agency product. Any phrases not recognised as skills will be highlighted to the user and then optionally added as skills or as 'noise' words to be ignored in the future.

Installation

The ParseResume.pkg file will self install.

As the ParseResume software uses the DatabaseKit for database access it will be necessary to create a 'Personnel' database in your chosen database environment be it Sybase, Oracle or QuickBase. An SQL script (Personnel.sql in the Agency.app bundle) has been supplied to create all necessary tables and row names for you. Paste this script into an interactive database session. The script was written for QuickBase. Please advise any problems to the authors so that installation adjustments can be made for different adaptors. Security for these tables will also need to be set up. The database tables are NOT removed if the application is deinstalled.
