DESCRIPTION\
\ul Bfmt
\ulnone is a simple text formatter which reads the concatenation\
of input files (or standard input if none are given) and\
produces on standard output a version of its input with\
lines
\i justified
\i0 and 72 characters long as possible. Contrasted\
with
\ul fmt
\ulnone , spacing at the beginning of the input lines is
\i not
\i0 \
preserved in the output, as is interword spacing.\
\
Parameter -l defines a prefix string for every line output.\
Parameter -p defines a prefix string for every paragraph.\
Specifying -l overrides previous -p values. Parameters -f \
and -b specify whether or not the paragraphs will be aligned\
flushleft or justified. Default is justified.\

\ul Bfmt
\ulnone is meant to format mail messages prior to sending, but\
may also be useful for other simple tasks. For instance,\
within visual mode of the
\ul ex
\ulnone editor (e.g.
\ul vi
\ulnone ) the command\
!\}bfmt\
will reformat a paragraph, evening the lines.\
\

\ulnone will break lines at whitespace positions (i.e., blanks,\
tabulators, and linebreaks), besides this it will take into\
account TeX's 'hard space' character '\\ '.\

The file .editdict includes most LaTeX commands as well as a partial set of BibTeX categories for Edit's completion mechanism. After installing .editdict properly, you may type any LaTeX command or even unique prefixes (backslash not included) in Edit and complete it using the Esc key. You can maneuver between «fields» delimited by European style quotations using Command-N.\

I've added expansions for .bib file entries such as article, book, incollection, misc, inproceedings, unpublished, ... I didn't put all of the possible entries into the .editdict file, and in each entry I left out certain fields. For example, I didn't put a field for month in an article entry because I personally never include the month, as is customary for physical sciences literature. Others may not be so happy about this.\
\
Also, there are certain items I've added that I personally find very useful, but I can surely understand that other might find them a nuisance. For example I often use spaces in math expressions so I have the letter s expand into \\: and ss expands into \\;. Also, I have \{ expand into \\left\\\{ \\right\\\}, [ expands into \\left[.... and so on. Another case is quotation marks " which expands into `` ''. Well, you'll see...\
\
Therefore, I leave to you (and encourage you) to make the final editorial decisions. Either make the changes yourself (you or Derek) or, if you like, I'll follow your suggestions. In the mean time I'll look for bugs.\

This is TeXmenu version 4.1 for NeXTSTEP Release 3.x.
IMPORTANT NOTE
TeXmenu version 4.1 is not free! Do not remove version 2.2 until you are sure you want to register! Read about licensing and pricing in License.rtf. TeXmenu version 4.1 requires at least NeXTSTEP version 3.0 and will run on both Motorola and Intel architectures.
INSTALLATION
· If you've been using TeXmenu version 2.2, 3.0 or former versions, first un-install the old package. You'll find the old package in
/NextLibrary/Packages/ThirdParty
Its name is TeXmenu.pkg. If it's not there, delete the old TeXmenu.app folder in /LocalApps or ~/Apps by hand. Another good idea is to put the folder into the recycler until you're sure version 4.1 is doing what you want it to. Make sure, that the old distribution's folder (TeXmenu.app) has vanished completely!
· To install version 4.1 simply double click on TeXmenu.pkg. Install it either in ~/Apps or /LocalApps.
TeXmenu.pkg is compressed using gzip and will require some extra space during its conversion to standard Installer compression. If you install TeXmenu directly from floppy disk its installation might fail! Knowing this, it's better to first copy the whole package onto your hard disk¼
· Launch TeXmenu.app. Either drop your registration key onto the registration panel or run demo mode.
· If you've been using TeXmenu version 2.2 or former versions, re-parse all your projects to get the new file type identification.
DEGRADING to version 2.2
If you return to version 2.2 type
dremove TeXmenu Version
into a shell. It's a good idea to log out and in afterwards.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
· If you want to make TeXmenu's terminal permission and ownership safe (this is not required), additionally enter the following two commands as root (sources for slog are included):
chown root.tty /LocalApps/TeXmenu.app/slog
chmod 6755 /LocalApps/TeXmenu.app/slog
Replace /LocalApps by the folder you've installed TeXmenu in. For further information refer to slog's sources (see below).
· To use the various converters and the text formatter 'bfmt' from within Edit, add the contents of file 'pipedict.extra.<language>' to your ~/.pipedict file. Next time Edit is launched, these converters and the formatter can be found as 'User Pipes'. If you have not installed TeXmenu in /LocalApps, edit the pipedict.extra.<language> file before appending it to ~/.pipedict.
· To use LaTeX command completion in Edit, read README.editdict. The file .editdict found in this distribution is a contribution by Derek Beatty and may be redistributed freely.
· The meaning of '%s' in the spell command has changed from version 2.2 to 3.0 and later, due to the generalized command format scheme. The old 'detex %s' had had the same meaning as the new 'detex %s.tex'.
· Besides this file (README.rtf) and the application (TeXmenu.pkg) you'll find the files ANNOUNCING4.1 and a folder Src in the distribution. This folder contains public slog sources (found in the Stuart2.4 by Scott Hess) as well as various converter sources for flex (*.l). If you extend any of these converters or find any bugs, please send the changes to me. Further information on the converters (and how to translate them) can be found in the documentation...
· If you would like to use the file LoginLion.tiff as your login window enter the following command as root:
dwrite loginwindow ImageFile <your image folder>/LoginLion.tiff
Log out and type ªexitº+RETURN into the ªNameº field of the login window.
