OmniPDF is an Adobe Portable Document Format (Acrobat) file viewer for NEXTSTEP. What differentiates OmniPDF from its brethren is that it interprets PDF in Objective-C, rather than in PostScript. This makes OmniPDF faster and a little easier to control (especially on corrupt files). OmniPDF features nice font substitution for missing fonts, although it doesn't use Adobe's copyrighted multi-master fonts. OmniPDF doesn't use any of Adobe's copyrighted code, unlike some of its peers. OmniPDF currently follows hyperlinks within a PDF file. In a future release it will also follow URLs in PDF files using OmniWeb . Finally, OmniPDF is the only PDF viewer I know of on any platform (including Adobe's Acrobat) that outputs print jobs according to Adobe's Document Structuring Conventions (DSC 2.0). This is really nice if you are using NeXT's Preview.app, for example; only OmniPDF allows you to go backwards and forwards through the printed PDF file and zoom in and out. OmniPDF is the only commercial PDF viewer for NEXTSTEP, which is important to some people, less so to others. OmniPDF is and always will be free to single users, but if you want to run multiple copies simultaneously at your site you should contact omnipdf@lighthouse.com for more licenses. New in v1.7: Skips Macintosh headers. Doesn't crash on images inside Type 3 fonts. More robust drawing.
