Commentator allows you to overlay a rich text document with functional buttons. The buttons will overlay the text and will appear as highlighted portions of text. Commentator can be used in a variety of ways. These include the preparation of foreign language texts, as a text annotator program and an English compostion grading program.

The original text must be prepared using a word processor which supports the rich text format (rtf) such as WriteNow, Edit, OpenWrite, ... The rtf format allows the text to contain character, paragraph and apge formatting information. In particular, multiple fonts can be used.

The overlaying buttons are indeed functional. Associated with each annotating button will be a response window, in which appropriate information can be inserted. In addition, sounds such as voice comments, translations or music can be recorded and connected to the button via a sound window.

Once the text has been prepared with Commentator-G, it can be saved for later use with the companion program Commentator-R or re-loaded into Commentator-G for futher editing.
