CurveGrader

CurveGrader takes a list of test scores, normalized to the range 0 to 100, and presents a tool for determining breakpoints between assigned letter grades. Grades can then be loaded back into the list of the corresponding scores.

To begin, fill in the names of students and their scores in the left and middle columns of the list window with the normalized scores. You can also enter the name of the class and the test in the corresponding fields. Don't leave any blank rows except at the end. The scores should be in percentage, i.e. 76, 92, etc.

Click on the "Plot" button to display the distribution in the plot view. Drag on the round "A", "B", etc. buttons to move the breakpoints. At the bottom of the window, you can watch the number or percent of the students in each grade category change.

When you are ready, click on the "Assign Grades" button to put the letter grades in the third column of the Score & Grade List. You can print the plot, and save the list of scores and grades. The saved file is in comma seperated ascii, so you can import it into Improv, 1-2-3, dBase, etc.

This is a demo app and was not tested much. Use at your own risk. Source is included.
