This is the README for NeXTGIF.0.1.N.bs.tar.gz [Download] [Browse] [Up]

NeXTGIF version 0.9
	??? ( the destination says 0.1 ????!!! - jolly )

is a public beta test release, and as is typical with beta software, is provided with very limited documentation.

Installation:
To properly install NeXTGIF, place the executable in /LocalApps (if you have root access) or ~/Apps (for private use). After choosing 'Find Applications' from the Workspace 'Utilities' manual, the application will be represented by a unique icon. Files with an extension of '.gif' will also take on a unique icon instead of the generic 'Edit' icon.

To load files, you may double click on a file displaying the '.gif' icon, or select the 'open' option from the 'files' menu in NeXTGIF. NeXTGIF supports multiple file selections.

If the GIF header is unreadable, NeXTGIF will abort the current picture with a warning panel. If NeXTGIF could read the header, but not the whole picture, NeXTGIF will display a warning, and display the part of the image it could read.

You can resize the window after the gif has been read. Resizing the window to a large size tends to take time. Please be patient. You can close a picture by clicking on the close button for that window.

Problems, bugs and comments should be E-mailed to hoodr@csus.edu.

Future Plans:
An information panel for gif information.
A queue so that NeXTGIF doesn't tie up WorkspaceManager when opening multiple files.
An sizing option for keeping the aspect ratio of the picture.
