ModelMan is an experimental modeler for the Pixar RenderMan(TM) interface.
You can use the quadratic surfaces: sphere, torus, cone, disk, hyperboloid,
paraboloid and cylinder, and linear patches, the standard teapot and extruded
Adobe Type-1 fonts to set up your scenes. There is a small support for the
RenderMan Interface Bytestream entities (RIB macros). You can group the
shapes even in solid blocks. The ModelMan program supports multiple camera
views (windows) for one scene, or multiple scenes. Shapes can be manipulated
directly with the mouse or by inspector panels. The RenderMan shaders can be
used as surface attributes. You can store and load full scenes or a set of
shapes. ModelMan supports an english GUI and offers english help texts.
Knowledge about the RenderMan interface and the NeXT User Interface is highly
recommended.

The program is compiled for NeXTSTEP at the NeXT, HPPA, SUN and Intel
hardware. The NeXT, SUN and the Intel versions are tested.

Legal Considerations
--------------------

ModelMan is NOT public domain but can be freely used and redistributed
provided that the program is fully copied and is not redistributed for direct
commercial advantage. The copyright notice of the author: "Copyright(c) 1994/95
Universitaet Koblenz-Landau and Andreas Pidde" (or with whatever year is
appropriate), this README file and the LIESMICH file has to reappear unchanged;
keep the copyright notice intact in all files they appear.

There is absolutely NO WARRANTY provided for ModelMan. The entire risk as
to the quality and performance of ModelMan is with you. Should ModelMan
prove defective, you assume the cost of all necessary servicing, repair
or correction.

In no event will anybody be liable to you for damages, including any lost
profits, lost monies, or other special, incidental or consequential damages
arising out of the distribution, the use or inability to use (including but not
limited to loss of data or data being rendered inaccurate or losses sustained
by third parties or a failure of the program to operate with any other
programs) ModelMan, even if you have been advised of the possibility of such
damages, or for any claim by any other party.

In other words: ModelMan is `freely distributable' software to use at your own
risk.
