The official announcement follows:

PRESS RELEASE: HyperSensePlayer ships: First copy FREE

Fort Collins, Colorado - August 24, 1995 - Thoughtful Software is pleased to announce the HyperSensePlayer, a run time version of its highly-regarded HyperSense authoring tool. The HyperSensePlayer allows anyone to access interactive multimedia documents and applications created with HyperSense.

"HyperSense has always been a powerful tool for rapid prototyping and custom application development," stated Douglas Simons, Thoughtful Software's Director of Development. "Now, the HyperSensePlayer makes it attractive for application deployment as well, at little or no cost."

With recent increases in the cost of the NEXTSTEP Developer environment, many individuals and smaller companies have been left without an affordable option for small-scale software development under NEXTSTEP. With the introduction of the HyperSensePlayer, many utilities and smaller applications can be effectively developed and deployed using HyperSense, often in a fraction of the time required using other tools.

The HyperSensePlayer will be distributed with a FREE single user license, which enables programs and documents created with HyperSense to be readily distributed. This allows every NEXTSTEP user the opportunity to make full use of the growing repository of freely available HyperSense-based documents and applications.

The HyperSensePlayer distribution includes a number of useful HyperSense documents ready for immediate use. These include:

* Addresses.sense
	An address book which includes such features as full-text searches, marking of individual pages or sets of pages, sorting by the contents of any field, and creation of mailing labels.

* PasteMaster.sense
	A handy utility for storing multiple rich text items for easy access from any application through the pasteboard. This document can also serve as a permanent storage repository for frequently-used phrases or paragraphs.

* DDM.sense
	This Defaults Database Manager application provides a graphical browser front-end to the user's defaults database. Defaults for all applications are easily viewed and changed.

* ParagraphStore.sense
	This useful document stores paragraphs of text in a format that allows for easy searching. It also provides a mechanism for automatically composing a letter from selected paragraphs.

* HyperCalc.sense
	Although it looks like an ordinary on-screen calculator, this one has the unusual characteristic of allowing you to type mathematical expressions directly into its display.

Any of these HyperSense documents can easily be customized for your exact needs with the full developer version of HyperSense.

The HyperSensePlayer is available by anonymous ftp at:

ftp://ftp.cs.orst.edu/pub/next/HyperSense/HyperSensePlayer.pkg.1.00B13.NIHS.b.tar

For organizations which need multiple users to have access to the HyperSensePlayer, floating network licenses are available. Special introductory pricing for the Player begins at $250 for a 5-user floating license (regular price: $395). The full HyperSense development environment is available for a limited time for $349, a 30% savings off the regular price.

Thoughtful Software has been dedicated to the creation of tools which unlock the power of NEXTSTEP since 1989. We believe that users of a superior operating environment deserve an equally high standard of excellence in the tools they use. Our aim is to serve that need.
