Installing dbmAdaptor

It is easy to install dbmAdaptor. Double-click the dbmAdaptor package. The Installer application will startup and ask you where you want to install dbmAdaptor.

You then need to decide were to put the actual adaptor (located under Adaptors in the dbmAdaptor-0.4 directory).
It is strongly recommended that dbmAdaptor.adaptor be installed in either ~/Library/Adaptors˛ or /LocalLibrary/Adaptors. These are the default locations for DBKit adaptors, which makes it easy for DBModeler, InterfaceBuilder and other applications using DBKit adaptors (such as your own applications) to find them.

Copy the directory dbmAdaptor.adaptor to the location you have chosen.

If you want other users on your system to be able to use dbmAdaptor then it is recommended that the adaptor be placed in /LocalLibrary/Adaptors.

NeXT puts the DBKit adaptors that are bundled with NEXTSTEP in /NextLibrary/Adaptors. You should not install your own tools in the /NextLibrary hierarchy; thats what the /LocalLibrary and ~/Library˛ hierarchies are for.

If you don't have access to install dbmAdaptor.adaptor in /LocalLibrary contact your systems administrator and ask for help.

˛ The '~' stands for your home directory; i.e. the directory displayed in Workspace when you log in.
