This is the main text, figure captions, sidebars, and listings that went to final copy edit for the Ergo article. It is extremely close, but not identical to, the final article that appeared in the magazine. I thought some readers might benefit from having the explanatory text along with the code included in the other directories, so here it is! NeXTWORLD has been very kind in allowing me to give you this article so soon after its first publication, so please be aware that NeXTWORLD reserves all rights to the text, just as they have copyright protection for the magazine version. (And besides, you should buy a copy of the magazine anyway, it looks a lot better and you get all those other pages, too! :-). Figures 1 and 2 were both submitted as large tiff images, and would have used up 1/2 a Meg, so they've been omitted here. I don't think you'll really need them anyway, since the equivalent can be produced by double-clicking on Ergo and playing the game (Figure 1) or by opening Ergo's nib file (Figure 2). Charles P.S. -- I've fixed some minor errors (Figure 3, a bolding here and there) that crept into the published version, so you get more than you paid for here!
