PowerGlove Inspector Version 0.1 (beta) _______________________________________________________________________________ This application displays the current state of a Nintendo/Mattel PowerGlove (tm) attached to the DSP port of a NeXTcube or NeXTstation computer. PowerGlove Inspector does not work on non-NeXT (i.e. Intel) hardware. Glove inputs: - x,y,z position of the glove relative to the sensing array - orientation of the glove (roll rotation) - "flex" of the thumb and three fingers - state of the four direction buttons on the wrist pad - state of the "Select", "Start", "B" and "A" buttons on the wrist pad. This application is based on a program by Joe Freeman called PaintLab, which can be found on sonata.cc.purdue.edu in "/pub/next/1.0/demos/PowerGlove.tar.Z" and on the glove-list server in "nextpowerglove.tar". PaintLab is a hacked drawing program in which mouse events are replaced by glove actions; however, it only utilizes a few glove actions. PowerGlove Inspector examines and displays _all_ the hi-res glove inputs. The online help in PowerGlove Inspector includes the glove-list FAQ and instructions on how to wire up a PowerGlove to the NeXT DSP port.
