SOCKS Bundle Support

NOTE: do not install this bundle if you are not running SOCKS on your network.

Support for network communications via SOCKS firewalls is supported via the SOCKS.bundle Netkit plug-in .

SOCKS is a package that allows hosts behind a firewall to gain full access to the Internet without requiring direct IP reachability. It works by redirecting requests for access to external Internet sites to a proxy gateway server, which authorizes the connection and passes data back and forth.

Plug-in bundles should be placed in one of the following locations:

	~/Library/Netkit
	/LocalLibrary/Netkit
	~/Library/Netsurfer
	/LocalLibrary/Netsurfer

or inside the app wrapper of the Netkit-based application.

To enable SOCKS support in Netkit applications, copy the SOCKS.bundle to one of the above locations.

The only configuration necessary for SOCKS.bundle to function with Netkit applications is that the local DNS or NetInfo namespace should contain a host named socks that is the socks proxy gateway machine.
