                            -Slip Commander -

	SlipCommander is a NeXTStep Interface of the SLIP commands provided in the TransSys DialUpIP SLIP package by Louis A. Mamakos.

Warning:
=======

	1. You must have the TransSys DialUpIP SLIP package installed and fully tested for the connection first.

	2. You must be in the 'wheel' group to run SlipCommander. The rootpassword is required each time for setting up the preference. The information is securely encrypted in the file - "(home)/.SlipCommander"

	3. The Mail Retrieving command script using ftp may require silghtly modification to customize for your site. A sample script for retrieving mails from remote site is provided.

	4. SlipCommander was implemented under NS2.1, if there's a conflicts with NS3.0, a patch will be made when I receive my 3.0 upgrade.

	5. This is not a FreeWare, see donation below....

Installation Guide:
==================

	1. Place SlipCommander.app under /LocalApps or ~Apps.

	2. Modify the Mail Script and place it under any directory path.
           (be sure to 'chmod +x' of it) The sample 'RMS1' script should work
           fine for most people without any modification.

	3. Run Preference in SlipCommander.app.

Features:
========

-SLIP connect/disconnect - Slip Commander simplifies the frequently-used SLIP
commands such as 'slipup', 'slipdown', 'duioctl',etc. In the attempt of making
a connection, Slip Commander can monitor the process; in case of a
FAILCALL(BUSY), it will automatically redial after a period of time until the
connection is established.

-Remote mails retrieval - retrieving the mails stored on the remote sites is
just a button click away.

-SLIP connection monitoring - the connection status are clearly displayed in
the Inspector. So, next time the LED on your modem goes off, you won't be
left in the dark.

Special Thanks -

	Special thanks to Louis A. Mamakos for the hints of SLIP status detection. And John Landwehr for his great inspiration in the SLIP_PPP article, plus the precious comments on the initial release. And the last, my lovely fiancee - PinJu. She is the real contribution to all this work.
