This is the README for MailMan.1.0e.N.b.tar.gz [Download] [Browse] [Up]
Well, I haven't had any time during the last couple of weeks to make improvements, so here is version 1.0e. MailMan Help MailMan is an application that provides BIFF support for the NeXTstep User. Why MailMan? I wrote MailMan because I needed a utility to tell me if I had Email, NeXTmail or both. This need arose from the fact that I use MH to normally read email, and Mail.app only for NeXTmail. When my account receives new email, it processes it with a MH mailhook. If it is NeXTmail, the hook redirects it to a spoolfile in my Mailboxes directory, otherwise it appends it to my normal mail spool file. Mail Spool Files MailMan allows the specification of 2 mail spool files -- one for normal Email, and one for NeXTmail. If activated in Preferences, these spool files are checked for change every UpdateInterval seconds. Visual Biff When you receive Email, the MailMan Application Icon Background will alternate between NeXTlightgray and NeXTdarkgrey. NeXTmail will cause the Icon Background to alternate between NeXTlightgray and NeXTblack. Audio Biff You also have the option of having a sound played when you receive new email (normal and NeXT mail) Future Features - Specification of Color for Email/NeXTmail alert - Open Panels for Spoolfile and Soundfile selection - Smart buttons in Preferences instead of Switches Suggestions I am always open to suggestion on how to make MailMan better/more effective.
