This is the README for Whois.1.01.NI.bs.tar.gz [Download] [Browse] [Up]
Whois "mini example" This is a fairly minimal :-) client for the Internet "whois" and "finger" protocols (which are really the same--they just use different default ports). Yes, this is freeware. I've included source code in case you're curious how it works, or have no life and want to try to turn it into something useful. As is, no warranty, no support, etc. Since I only had m68k hardware available for testing, I can't promise this works unmodified on other architectures. And if the app icon looks like I spent all of two minutes on it--I did. Final disclaimer: this wasn't my idea! 2.1/Whois executable for NeXTstep 2.1 2.1/src/ source code for above 3.2/Whois.app executable for NEXTSTEP 3.2 (fat: m68k+i486) 3.2/src/ source code for above Note: identical files in this distribution have been HARD linked. If you want to rebuild 3.2/Whois.app from source, delete the old one first! Eric P. Scott San Francisco State University October 1994
