This is a beta release of an NeXTstep phase vocoder application that David Jaffe and I hacked together in April. This implementation uses threads - you can actually run multiple phase vocoder processes from this application at once. As phase vocoders are cpu cycle ravagers, it is not wise to have many of these threads running at once. I admit it; I made the icon. It is supposed to be a picture of two hands clutching the ends of an signal; they are poised to squash or stretch it. Other people have said that the icon has two birds in it; someone mentioned flowers, a steamroller, the cover of a Kurt Vonnegut novel, the pope'e spleen, a careening mustang plowing into a fushcia pomo strip mall in Anaheim, California. So I am holding a contest to see what you, they end-user thinks of this icon. Does it look like Barbara Mandrell's mouth before she shouts a soaring melody?
