Audiometr.app was written for testing of hearing. Quality of test signals is much highier, than in the commercially available audiometers which range in price from $1000 to $15,000, since signal synthesis is performed in real time in digital domain and signals are dithered (information on dither is available in DFG_demo.app ). This application is very useful for standard audiometric testing for people involved in the acoustics, psychoacoustics, music, sound engineering, audiology, speech pathology etc. Audio-Tone.demo.app, Pure Tone Generator module was written for real-time synthesis of the sinusoidal (pure tone) signal. Signals are generated in real time and do not require the DSP processor (which is not available in some NeXTSTEP computers).Therefore this software will run on all NeXTSTEP computers equipped with D/A converters. Signal is generated in RAM and for this reason no hard disk space is required for operation of the Audio-Tone.demo.app program. This program works very nicely with Digital Oscilloscope and Spectrum Analyzer (both applications come with NeXT) and any recording / editing software. Playback and recording/ analysis of the signal could be done simultaneously since DSP chip is not used and main processor is used only 2->3% during signal production.
