Background
==========

Peanuts is the leading ftp-archive for NEXTSTEP and OpenStep software 
on NeXT, Intel, HP/PA and SUN Sparc hardware. The archive is 
maintained since 1991 at the university of munich by a group of 
enthusiastic NEXTSTEP users. The archive has many mirror sites and 
BBS' in Europe and in the USA. The archive is updated every day from 
ftp sites all over the world.

The PAD compact discs
=====================

Because of many requests also from people without Internet access, we 
are publishing a CD-ROM containing the complete Peanuts archive. The 
three compact discs contain more than 1.8 GByte of compressed 
software.  Most of the applications are free- or shareware. For 
demonstration purposes, a wide range of popular commercial 
applications is included; this section is more than just a compilation 
of already available third-party compact discs and it gives an 
overview of the third-party NEXTSTEP software-market. 

The archive contains NEXTSTEP-applications, unix programs, X11 
programs, tools for developers, collections of easily reusable classes 
and code, documents, hard- and software-reviews, tutorials for 
programming and system administration, the NeXTAnswers directly from 
NeXT (ftp.next.com), a collection of important mailing-lists, 
newsletters from NeXT usergroups and an archive of national and 
international newsgroups from 1989 up to now. This and a rich 
collection of graphics, sound and audio files, drivers, classes, 
filters, preference modules, palette, fonts and much more, makes this 
CD a comprehensive tool for every user and developer of NeXT's 
advanced, object-oriented operation system. 

The archive is sorted in different categories and each filename 
follows a special naming convention making it possible to check the 
version number and distribution form (binary and/or source) of a 
program; further it is possible to see from the filename on which 
hardware platform any binary distributed application can be run. Also 
supplied is a short description file for almost every program enabling 
the user to find rapidly what he is searching for. With a simple 
double click any compressed file can be unpacked. 

Useful documents including usenet news, FAQs, the NeXTAnswers and the 
description files are fully indexed and can be used right off the CD 
together with NEXTSTEP's Digital Librarian for a fast and efficient 
information retrieval. The description files can also be copied to 
hard disc for an efficient search without the compact discs.  

The Peanuts Archive Disc is published every year with an update CD 
every half year to supply the NEXTSTEP community with a complete and 
up-to-date collection of stuff available for NEXTSTEP and OpenStep at 
the lowest possible price. The profit by the CD-ROMs will be mainly 
used for the archive itself to offer a better service in the future. 

Volume 1-U ("December 95") consists of the spring '95 edition (double 
CD) and the update CD from december, 3rd 1995. 

Cost/Orderung information
=========================

The volume 1-U of the Peanuts Archive Disc is DM 79.- (US $59) retail 
plus shipping and handling. The Update CD alone costs DM 22.- (US 
$19).  A special price is available for usergroups and for collective 
orders. 

Shipping and handling is DM 4.80 in Germany. If you want to pay COD 
(cash on delivery) in Germany, please add DM 3.-. In europe the 
shipping costs DM 8.-, COD is DM 8.- + DM 17.-. Outside europe, 
shipping is about DM 16.-.  Sending by COD is not possible outside 
europe. You can also send us cash or you can transfer the money to our 
account (shipping costs as above). Before you send us any money, 
please send an order via mail or fax.

Outside germany, you can also pay with credit card. Shipping/handling 
in this case is $12. We charge the credit card in US$, whereas all 
other orders can be payed in DM! If you want to pay with credit card, 
please send us the usual informations (card number, holder and 
expiration date).
