NeXT's 4.3BSD version of `sed' has some serious limitations compared to the `sed' command supplied with more modern Unices. I recommend that you install Gnu sed-2.05 which you can download from any Gnu archive. Remember to put /usr/local/bin on your $PATH before /bin so that configure finds the Gnu one. Also, we're using samba (1.9.17p4, the latest non-beta release) to do file- and print-sharing to NT clients. Samba tries to do fcntl() style locking via the F_GETLK, F_SETLK, F_SETLKW commands. So, it would be nice to have rpc.statd running to deal with network-wide locking. Unfortunately, rpc.lockd crashes and core-dumps with either a SIGBUS or a SIGIOT within a few seconds of being (re)started.
