This morning I uploaded to nova.cc.purdue.edu's submissions directory
a public-domain program I wrote for monitoring a Best Fortress UPS on
a NeXT.

It is called GACUPS, and consists of two parts: a daemon for
which does the low level monitoring and ensures logging of power
failures and graceful shutdown when the battery is low, and a NeXTstep
user interface that displays current information (voltages,
temperature, loading, etc.) in a panel. You can run the user
interfaces on any number of machines all communicating over the net
with the one daemon. This program has only been tested under NeXTstep
2.2, and not very long at that. It is free and you get what you pay
for.
