I would like to know if there are any low-level SCSI formatters for the NeXT (or source code for other platforms in C) the can format a drive and mark off the bad blocks on the drive as it formats. From reading the SCSI docs, it seems to me that the FORMAT UNIT command can do that, but the program for doing a low-level format on the NeXT (sdform) does not do this (it says in the man pages that one of the bugs is that it makes no additions to the bad block table). Can anyone point me to some source code or docs on this? Is there anything special I have to be aware of when writing code to work with a SCSI drive? Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

Sorry, I can't remember the name. Please refer to the NeXT discussion list. This subject has been discussed extensively there.
