Date: Sun 17-Sep-1991 22:54:52 From: mst@sanjuan.UVic.CA (Marc Stadelmann) Subject: ? FAX96+ Modem from Neuron Inc. -- Any experience? I am intersted in buying a modem for a NeXT computer. A company called Neuron Inc. advertizes such a modem, specifically for the NeXT, under the name: FAX96+ (Neuron Inc., Princeton NY) Does anybody (non-opiniated) have any experiece with it? To be more precise I would like to know: * more about the software that comes along with the modem, that is a package called "Marble Teleconnect" (TM) and "Synapse" (TM) * can I send and receive (NeXT)mail via telephone to/from a Unix host system without transfering the mail-message and send it from the host? * Are the file transfer mechanisms any better than ... let's say kermit? What software does the host need if not kermit? * Can I receive fax over the SAME telephone line (not at the same time)? Can the software detect wheather it's a fax coming in or wheather it's a friend calling? Can I configure the software in a way to do this?` * Any experience with the/a caracter recognition software? Does it work? What's its failure rate? Or do you know of any other well-integrated fax-modems for the NeXT? Thanks for sharing your experience (and sorry if this question has been answered before. I'm not monitoring this news group for a long time). mst@sanjuan.UVic.Ca ==============================================================================
