This is cant-boot-in-single-user-mode in view mode; [Up]

I have entered many commands of the 'bsd -s' persuasion, but to no avail: the result is always 'Exception 2' or 'Exception 3'. I am quite new to this environment; one possibility would be to boot from a condensed system floppy, and I've heard that there's an ftp site with such an image. Can anyone help me out? (N.B: In a full reboot cycle, the machine hangs while trying to discover the YP domain I specified. I presume the only way to prevent this is to get at hostconfig and edit out the offending line(s). Is this correct?)
