I originally had a 100 MB harddisk that contained the standard OS on it. Since I have this extra harddisk space now, I would really like to get my hands on the extended OS. I know that I can get a copy of it from anyone because that's the way the license works. However, since this is a second hand harddrive, I think it's already loaded with the extended version...but I'm not sure. There is some sort of OS on it, but I don't know what version it is. Is there some way to check? If it isn't, I guess the answer is really simple then. Delete everything and install the extended OS. How long would the installation process take? On the other hand, if it is the extended OS, then I suppose all I need to do is just copy over the files I don't have. I mean I don't need two sets of WriteNow.app or two sets of Librarian.app. Can you tell me what files are included on the extended OS and not in the standard OS...or which directories should I copy over. Of course, I would think that all the NeXT*/ (NeXT directories) must exist under the Root directory directly for reasons of updating and for reasons of search path. Therefore, is there enough space on my 100 MB harddrive to contain all this NeXT stuff, or should I make my 330 MB harddrive my startup device...and if so, how should I change the SCSI id on my internal drive? Thanks for your help. -------- =Howard Pan= MIT 410 Memorial Dr. Cambridge MA 02139 617-225-8415
