Nice enough that I'm almost ready to give up my nice loaded Sparc-2 along with years of experience dealing with Sun's. But.... There's always a fly in the ointment. In this case, it's the mouse. While the keyboard is pretty awful, I can live with that. But I cannot live with the mouse. I replaced the mouse on my Sun with a nice trackball and that's become an essential piece of equipment. Does anyone know of good trackballs available for NeXT's? Failing that, does anyone know where I can find out what kind of protocols are used by the NeXT mouse? If noone sells a ready-made mouse for my NeXT, I'm hoping I can at least modify a mouse meant for another computer to work. I could even paint it black and add a nice NeXT logo so it looks official :-) Thanks, Torben torben@Hawaii.Edu

He has given up on Kensington balls as it seems the NeXT uses a much lower current than the Kensington can tolerate. And yes, the Trackman is a white and grey beast. Also, I have had some problems with the tracking mechanism gunking up on my users (normally clean fingered secretaries, not your usually programmer type with Coke(tm) syrup emanating from his/her pores. I have cleaned them with rubbing alcohol swaps which seems to fix them. Peter can be reached at Peter.A.Eisch@uwrf.edu. -Geoff- --------------------------------------------------------------- Geoffrey Brunkhorst brunkhorst@Mayo.edu Research Computing Facility (507) 284-1805 Mayo Foundation, Rochester MN, 55905 USA fax (507) 284-5231
