Date: Sun 04-Dec-1991 20:20:51 From: wgilbert@fatou.UWaterloo.ca (William Gilbert) Subject: quot - undocumented command When I run the undocumented command "quot" (to summarize file system ownership) on my NeXT 2.1, by entering "quot -f /dev/sd0a" as root, I find that some files are owned by no listed user. These include: /usr/lib/dsp/ugsrc (owned by 132) /NextDeveloper/Demos/Billiards.app (owned by 59) /usr/filesystems/DOS.fs (owned by 37) /NextApps/Librarian.app/LibrarianHelp/.dir.tiff (owned by 333) Is this an oversight, or is there some reason for this? You can also find these by running "find / -nouser -print". Will Gilbert

The related commands are disabled or produce dummy results. ************************************************************************** * Michael F. That's ok. quot doesn't always use the quota files; in many systems (all?), it just goes through the disk / device you specify and checks all the files on it.
