Although I've received a significant amount of email along the lines of "if you find out how to get it running, please let me know," I've gotten no substantive responses at all. I've also perused the archive servers and haven't found any help or patches there either. It's hard to believe that out there in netland there aren't at least a few folks running nntp servers on the NeXT. How about it? Won't someone please take the time to email me a working conf.h and/or Makefile? I'm working with version 1.5.11, which I think is the latest, and I'm running CNews. Although I've tried numerous combinations of flags and libraries, when I use what seems to be the most logical set of options, I get the following error ldp.com# make server cd server; make "LIBS=-ldbm" "CFLAGS=-O " cc -O -c misc.c misc.c:835: sys/fs.h: No such file or directory *** Exit 1 Stop. *** Exit 1 Stop. That's with BSD_43 and NDBM defined. According to the comments in common/conf.h, if I want to use dbz libraries (do I?) I have to change CFLAGS in makefile to /usr/lib/dbz.o and install dbz.h. Although I believe I built CNews to use dbz, I have no idea what or where these files are. Any and all help would be most appreciated. Rolfe Tessem Lucky Duck Productions rolfe@ldp.com

I tried to send you my config file to help you out but my mail got bounced. Please e-mail me and I will help you all I can. I have made both the c-news system and NNTP. I have just set up a newsfeed and have everything running so I am aware of some of the problems. BTW-- I did not use the dbz for C-news or NNTP, I used dbm. Also, I think that you want -bsd for a cc flag.
