The point is, the right person which the right algorithms writing the 56K assembler to do this stuff in the DSP would be taking it in the right direction, EXCEPT for the inherent unportability of that. My point is that I and many other composers are using code written to run on any general purpose machine - from Crays to 8088's (well, 286s). Taking advantage of the DSP for more than A/D/A conversion hasn't been much exploited. You need hardware which costs more than saving your lunch money for a month but is cheap by comparison to the past, when such things could only be owned by labs, not people.
