I'm running an 8MB '030 Cube, v1.0, with a 660MB HD (at 94% full -- does that cause problems?), and one OD. When I try to Initialize (from the Optical Menu) or use Build Disk (both as root), the initializing fails with usually one of three messages: Invalid device or address /dev/rod0a Workspace internal error prevented completion of last operation or a message from the 'disk' program reporting error code 256 If figured maybe the media was bad, but when I tried a Fresh, New and Still-In-The-Shrinkwrap OD cartridge it still failed. Am I looking at some kind of HARDWARE problem (is there a Head Cleaner for OD's?) or is some thing not set up right in my System? There doesn't seem to be any problem READING (and WRITING to) cartridges that were previously formatted on this system, but it won't create any new ones...
