"No" is too strong, but I'll say it anyway. LaserWriters have Adobe Type 4 fonts in ROM (where they're difficult to get at). I believe NeXTstep 2.x supports Type 1 fonts exclusively. This is a similar question to "why do I need Type 1 font files for ATM on the Mac when I already have them in my LaserWriter?" Only half the answer is "licensing." -=EPS=-
