This is ImageWriter+lpr in view mode; [Up]
Date: Sun 17-Jun-1990 21:50:07 From: Unknown Subject: ImageWriter & lpr I'm not sure what all the fuss is about lpr and Rip! not being able to pose as a transparent filter. I have written IWSCRIPT and it is a true printer filter; any program that prints through the Print panel can now dump into an ImageWriter. It also works for lpr. Just type something like lpr -PImageWriter <name of eps files to print> The most useful way to use lpr is probably something like: wn2eps myfile.wn | lpr -PImageWriter The only things you need to watch out on the serial port is to first enable XON/XOFF on both the port and the ImageWriter (via DIP switch 2-3), and to match the baud rate to 9600 on both units. Posing as transparent filter is done through modifying an attribute in NetInfo's printer/ImageWriter. Read the man entry on transcript to find out more. I'll post the IWSCRIPT tar file some time soon (in about a week) when time permits. The program is shareware and does ask for a contribution. It would be easy to do a version for high res printers like 10,000 dpi or more, but it would run very slowly. It is debatable whether it's worth the effort, especially since it's against the licensing agreement to do so.
