In summary: 68040 due in April (rather than December) because of Businessland delays, capable of 20 MIPS and 10 times the current floating point performance. And, given Intel's recent problems with getting the 486 out on time, I wouldn't start holding my breath on July 1. Regarding the 040 being the end of the Motorola CISC line, the company has stated that work on the 050 has already begun and that an 060 is being planned as well. >Disclaimer: I only know what I read in the papers!
