Date: Sun 25-Oct-1989 03:01:32 From: Unknown Subject: How do you fake out "autodiskmount" ? Autodiskmount is a nice tool, but I have a situation where I'd like to insert an OD into a machine running autodiskmount and have autodiskmount ignore it (so my software can mount it in some location other than the home directory of the user currently signed on.) I'm having trouble preparing an OD that autodiskmount will ignore. It seemed like the logical thing to do was to poke around in /etc/disktab and make a new disk type, "omd-1-noautomount" that was exactly like "omd-1", except it didn't have the "aa" flag, which apparently means "partition auto-mount on insert". I used "disk -i -t omd-1-noautomount /dev/rod0a" to make the disk, and looked at the label with "disk" and it was marked "no automount". Unfortunately when I pop this disk in, the automounter grabs it and wants to mount it in the home dir of whoever's signed on. Does autodiskmount actually pay any attention to this "no automount" thing in the disk label? Is there some other way I can make a disk that autodiskmount will leave alone? Have I done something wrong? I have searched the documentation to no avail. If anyone can offer any insight, please let me know and I'll post a summary to the net. Thanks, steve
