Date: Sun 06-Oct-1989 06:15:03 From: Unknown Subject: Changing domainname Hi- We have two cubes running under 0.9 that need to be switched over to another ypdomain. Whenever I try to change the domainname invocation in /etc/rc_something to a different domain I can't get 'em to boot. It starts a few daemons in the boot process and then syslog complans that NetInfo is failing, sleeping and that's all folks. But as soon as I change the domainname back to what it was, it works. Some data: ypserver I want to decommision (but can't until the NeXTs are weaned off it) hostname antares ip address 128.101.229.1 domainname grads Architecture Sun/2 OS Sun 3.4 ypserver I want to cut over to hostname tera ip address 128.101.228.14 domainname sparc architecture Sun 4/60 OS Sun 4.0.3 tera does appear in /etc/hosts on the nexts; the nexts are in the 128.101.229 domain (same as the sun/2, different than the sparc) could this be a factor? Any suggestions appreciated, but please send them via email; I don't subscribe. dale Dale Wyttenbach | ...rutgers!umn-cs!wytten wytten@umn-cs.cs.umn.edu | wytten@umnacvx.bitnet Computer Science Department Systems Staff--University of Minnesota, Minneapolis >From: oberst@phoenix.Princeton.EDU (Daniel J.
