Date: Sun 10-Nov-1989 00:26:21 From: Unknown Subject: diskless NeXT + hard drive == useable system? The Network User System is listed on the price list for NeXT hardware sold at Stanford, but it is stated that the system "Must be networked to a Network Server System". Why is that? Why not load the operating system on a hard drive then install that drive on the diskless system, so that the only network traffic will be during overnight backups. Also, what is the latest word on installing 3rd party SCSI drives in NeXT? Does one only need drive parameters and a cable? Thanks for any info.
