Date: Sun 02-Nov-1989 00:43:10 From: Unknown Subject: Printing Sybase Docs I have been trying to get hard copy of the Sybase documentation. ptroff chokes on some of the font specs (.fLR, .fLB, etc) and it appears that the defn of a macro .Sc in tmac.syb expects to read a file that doesn't exist. I could ignore these problems and get a half-cooked version of the docs but would prefer to do it right. Has anyone else done it right? Anyone from Sybase or NeXT care to look into this? I don't mind having to print my own manuals but I do object to horsing around with incomplete troff sources. BTW, the problem with .Sc is reflected in the online docs as well but you don't notice it because nroff doesn't complain. --------------------------------- Rick Morrison | {alberta,uw-beaver,uunet}!ubc-cs!morrison Dept. of Computer Science| morrison@cs.ubc.ca Univ. of British Columbia| morrison%ubc.csnet@csnet-relay.arpa Vancouver, B.C. Date: Sun 02-Nov-1989 18:46:09 From: Unknown Subject: Re: Printing Sybase Docs I,too, have had substantial problems with Sybase documentation. I generally use the librarian to get to the documentation. Formatting is really spotty, and yesterday I ran into a chapter (SAG/sag3) that gets truncated by the librarian...I had to dig out the file and read it in a shell window. Pretty grim. I haven't found a good way to print it out, either. While we're on it, I've been a little disappointed with Sybase in the 1.0 release. For example, sybase include files have type definitions (eg. BOOL) and macro definitions (MIN, MAX, and ABS) that collide with NeXT system files. Not difficult to deal with; one just doesn't like having to hack release include files. 'least, I don't. BTW, if anyone knows of a better fix than modifying syb*.h, please let me know. David Kay dbk@esl.com 408.752.2528 disclaim, disclaim, disclaim... >From: rich@inmet.inmet.com
