Date: Sun 04-Nov-1989 17:53:43 From: Unknown Subject: Next technical docs and Software Licenses What kind of technical documentation comes with the Next ? Do you get hardware manuals, schematics, source, device driver toolkits ? I was told by businessland that no source was available. Is that true ? If so, how do I add support for devices such as tape drives, WORMS, etc ? Is there technical information provided for UNIX programming on the MACH level ? Are the system calls documented,or are you supposed to go somewhere else for that information ? Another question that I can't seem to get an answer from either Next or Businessland is whether the network version of the Next without the Optical Disk comes with the licsense for the software. In other words, can I buy the network version, add my own hard disk and tape backup to it, and copy the software from businessland ? It seems like such an obvious question, but 2 people from Next, and 2 from Businessland, don't know (or won't tell me) this information. Also, I'd be interested in talking with someone who is doing some programming on the Next. I'd like to find out what kind of technical support Next has, and what problems people have run into. -Jaz jaz@calvin.icd.ab.com >From: wb1j+@andrew.cmu.edu (William M. Bumgarner)
